Annual Spring Conference venue – Warwick

We run our annual conferences at the University of Warwick. The conference is held at the Ramphal Building (see F4 on campus map) – part of the University Conference Park – with on campus accommodation provided for conference residents.
Travelling to the University of Warwick
The University of Warwick is centrally placed in England and is easy to get to by road, rail and air.

By car
The university is close to the Midlands motorway and main road network (including easily accessed via the M5, M6, M42, M69). See here for detailed directions. You will be advised about car parking by the BOU Office.

By rail and bus
The most convenient train station is Coventry from where there is a regular bus service to the university campus. Taxis are also available. Other nearby stations including Leamington Spa (with bus connecting to the university), Canley (no public transport links) and Tile Hill (no public transport links). By air
Birmingham airport is the nearest to the university. See here for details and connections to the university.
Parking on campus
If you are travelling by car please register for parking with the university.

You must complete your permit application by 21 March. Your permit provides you with complimentary car parking in the Reserved Conference Car Park. Once on Central Campus you should follow signs for ‘Conference Parking’.

Remember to download and print off your permit which must be displayed at all times when parked on campus. This type of permit entitles you to park in any of the open entry car parks (i.e. those without barriers).

You should allow additional time when planning your journey as the conference car park could be a 10-15 minutes’ walk from the conference facilities and the accommodation blocks. Note that during busy periods you may be directed to alternative parking facilities which could be up to a 25 minutes walk to Central Campus

Check-in for your conference and accommodation
Delegates should first check in for the conference at the BOU registration desk in the Ramphal Building (see F4 on campus map). The BOU desk will be manned:
Tuesday 5.00-7.00pm and 8.00-9.30pm.
Wednesday 8.30am – 6.00pm
Thursday 8.30am – 4.00pm

Accommodation check-in is in the atrium of the Students Union (see D5 on campus map). Keys can be collected:
Tuesday & Wednesday between 3.00-9.45pm. After 9.45pm collect from the Gatehouse (see H3 on campus map).

Accommodation at the University of Warwick
If you have booked as a Conference Resident you will stay in on campus student accommodation. Rooms are around five minutes walk from the conference hall. Each room has the following:

  • private bathroom
  • towels and toiletries
  • free internet access
  • tea and coffee making facilities*
  • hairdryer
  • ironing board and trouser press*

* in some cases this might be in a nearby communal kitchen area

Arriving late on Tuesday
Registration opens at 5pm on the Tuesday with dinner served between 7-8pm. But don’t worry if you arrive late: Between 8pm-10pm – sorry, you will miss dinner if you arrive after 8pm but you’ll find us in the Ramphal Building (up to 9.30pm) and then in the bar in the Rootes Building (see C5 on campus map). You can collect your room key as detailed above.

Check-out and room key return
You must vacate your room by 9.30am on the morning of your departure. There will be a room available in the Ramphal Building to leave luggage – ask at the BOU conference desk.

Please return your room key to the key drop box near the entrance of your accommodation block or to the BOU conference desk. Lost keys or keys not returned will be charged for.

Are meals included?
Conference Residents have all their meals included in the price they have paid (as detailed on the booking page and your delegate booking confirmation from the BOU Office. Non-residents (i.e. those who have not booked accommodation as part of their conference attendance) will have the meals they have paid for detailed on their booking confirmation.

The University of Warwick campus has:

  • Santander and Barclays bank branches
  • restaurants, bars and cafes
  • Shops, including bookshops and convenience stores
  • a pharmacy
