RESEARCH GRANTS

BOOK AWARDS

In 1998 we announced this initiative scheme aimed at assisting research projects with the acquisition of reference materials for their work. Book awards of £100, sponsored by NHBS Mailorder Bookstore, are allocated to up to five projects each year.

2000 BOU/NHBS Book Awards

Book awards of £100, sponsored by NHBS Mailorder Bookstore, have been awarded to the following projects:

  • Stewart White (UK). £1000. An avian survey of the Sumaca national reserve, Ecuador. (see Research Grants above).
  • Mikhail Banik (Ukraine). £600. Project CHAGRA’ 2000: Ukrainian project of conservation and studying chalk grasslands. (see Research Grants above).
  • Kate Oddie (UK) £400. Environmental predictability and sex allocation in the Saxual Sparrow Passer ammodendri. (see Research Grants above).
  • Jane Reid (UK) £200. Are wader nest-scrapes adaptively located and designed to minimise the rate of heat loss from the clutch? (see Research Grants above).

1999 BOU/NHBS Book Awards

  • Paul Salaman (UK). Colombian EBA Project '99. (see Research Grants above).
  • Zoltan D. Szabo (Romania). Monitoring the size and distribution of Sand Martin Riparia riparia population breeding along Mures River, Romania.
  • Papp Tamas (Romania). Impact of power lines on raptors in Romania (pilot).
  • Robert Zeitz (Romania). Conservation of birds of prey in Transylvania. (see Research Grants above).
