COUNCIL AND COMMITTEE MEMBERS
BOU StaffThe BOU's two staff members are responsible for day to day operations of the BOU including membership management, sales, publishing, co nference organisation, servicing BOU Council and Committees, BOU websites, etc.
CouncilBOU Council is overall responsible for all BOU operations. BOU Staff and BOU Committees report their operations to BOU Council.
Ibis CommitteeBOUI oversees all aspects of the BOU's journal publishing, recommending policy and direction as well as providing support and advice to both the Ibis and BOU Offices in their management of Ibis .
Meetings CommitteeBOUMC is responsible for overseeing the ongoing programme of conferences, meetings and workshops. They appoint organisers who work with the BOU Office to deliver each event.
Ornithological Affairs CommitteeBOUOAC is responsible for allocating Research Grants and for providing advice to BOU Council on a wide range of issues. For example, these have recently included ethics, long-term population studies, the Galapagos islands , EU pesticides, UK Overseas Territories and habitat diversity. BOUOAC also facilitates the taking forward of major issues developed at BOU conferences, seminars and other meetings. Recent examples include re co mmendations on the role and direction of ornithology in co nservation to the year 2000 and beyond, necessary measures in respect of escaped and feral birds, the phasing out of the use of lead shot in wetlands, policy in relation to raptors and future BOU initiatives. BOUOAC also co nsiders proposals and makes re co mmendations to Council in respect of Honorary Memberships, medals and future Alfred Newton Lecturers.
Records CommitteeBOURC is responsible for maintaining The British List .
Taxonomic Sub-CommitteeBOURC-TSC advise on taxonomic issues relating to The British List .
Category F Sub-CommitteeBOURC-CFSC are responsible for managing Category F of the The British List .
BOU / BOC Joint Publications CommitteeThe JPC is responsible for overseeing the publication of all non-journal output (e.g. the BOU Checklist Series) from both the BOU and our sister organisation, the British Ornithologists' Club.
Ibis EditorialThe Ibis team are responsible for the editorial co ntent of the BOU's international journal of avian science, Ibis.
